'Machineries of Joy' is leagues ahead of the Gravenhurst song, which, while pleasant enough, sounds like something Stephen Duffy/The Lilac Time would have put out as the second or third bonus track on a CD single in the early 90s (discounting the last minute or so).

ILikETraiNs were great when I saw them live, but over the course of the last couple of albums, I've found it increasingly difficult to tell their songs apart and I tend to fall back on listening to 'Terra Nova' or 'The Beeching Report' whenever I fancy a baritone history lesson.

I'll get back to you on Reigns.

Have you still not heard any of the ongoing animal/hat EPs, Mr Foster?

I'm loving The Shallows quite a bit. I'm struggling to listen to anything else since it arrived in the post box the other day. I prefrer it to He Who Saw The Deep. It's a little more uplifting.

It is, and it's a better listen than Reigns in my very humble opinion

There seem to be a few I Like Trains ~iLiKETRAiNS threads on here, but this one will do.

If you like 'em, and I think a lot of you do, this may interest you;

Yup, there's a documentary being made about them, or rather has been made, but needs a few grand so it can make it to the silver screen. It's seems that the film-makers are trying to look at them as fully rounded people, not just lads in a band. So yeah, if you've a few £££ free, do put in on the Kickstarter.

This has been a public service announcement about guitars.

I might cry, I loves them.
Dave holding a child he loves.
Sad twinkles.
Please do not give money to this film which will break my heart.

I have of course, I can't resist.
Really want to see this know.
So many of my favourite bands live like this.
They deserve more.

Still no sign of this bloody film, though apparently it's all finished, the band have seen it and it's now at final editing stage. They might do a few gigs when the film comes out too.

One day folks, one day.

As anyone who cares knows, 'this bloody film', aka A Divorce Before Marriage, has been premiered in that there London. Me & Cold Ethyl went, and it's very good. Beautiful shots of Leeds (shut it), and an engaging narrative around what makes a band a band. Some artistic license has been taken, mind. Don't know if it'll be shown anywhere else, but apparently it's going to be part of the Leeds International Film Festival in November.

AND! A couple of shows. A proper, outdoor festival (blue dot, the one at Jodrell Bank with Jean Michel Jarre, Public Service Broadcasting and some band from Cumbria people keep going on about) on Sunday 24 July, and a one day indoor type festival (High & Lonely, Brudenell Social Club & Left Bank, Leeds) on Saturday 19 November. Some more would be nice.

Well then, nearly 2 years later, they resurface, playing at Big Bob Smith's Meltdown festival in that there London. As the I Like Trains forum remains up the spout, and a large proportion of posters there are also on here, I have for your delectation the setlist from Sunday at the Queen Elizabeth Hall

Terra Nova
A Father's Son
Dig In*
Mnemosyne
October*
A Rook House For Bobby
The Voice Of Reason
Bodies*
Sea Of Regret

The 3 asterisked are new, though they were doing Bodies in 2016 (Bodies In The Basement, aka A Man Of Conviction, aka The Angry Dave Song).

Near perfect sound, didn't feel like they'd been out of circulation for ages, now come on lads, more gigs soon - closer than the goth festival near Leipzig, please.
