An absolutely belting gig. The band were 100% committed, they seemed to be enjoying themselves quite a bit more than Birmingham three nights earlier, the Leadmill is for me a much, much more convivial venue for this sort of thing. We sang along, we waved our hands, we cheered loudly. I loved every minute. I actually had goosebumps during Canvey Island.
There was a bit more interaction with the crowd but more to the point, the whole thing felt more like a boisterous celebration of the rapport between band and audience, and a transcendent sharing of joy. And I'd only had half a lager.
One minor nitpick - Hamilton was either playing a wrong note in Fire Escape in the Sea up the dusty end of his short scale bass or it was out of tune, or badly intonated. It was about a semitone sharp. I admit I winced, but it didn't spoil the fun.
Scott helped himself to a guitar solo for his birthday in Remember Me.
Definitely in my top three or four (B)SP gigs.
