About time too. THE NME been a bag of shite for years - I've probably told the story about a mate of mine who dated an NME journalist briefly, during which time she had to explain to the journo who Led Zeppelin were...he later went on to edit NME.

The only music publication I've read with any sort of regularity in the last 10 years was The Stool Pigeon, because the editor actually seemed to be interested in music and what makes music tick.
Do it for the Butthole Surfers.

Bought it for the first time in years yesterday as needed something to read on the long winding journey home from the Tuff Love gig. What struck me most was the lack of depth to any of the content; apart from a few lengthier pieces about Parma Violets and Foo Fighters it was a half hour read at best. A sad demise.

Went to university with one of the NME's now-regular writers. She was a vacuous bitch. I remember her dismissing Richard Hawley as 'something my mum might like but too 50s dance hall to me'. Fuck right off, madam.
