Fun ain't the word! I can shoot in low light! I can shoot close ups! I can shoot in black and white! Wheee! (Yes, these are the things I get excited about.) This camera even makes dorky pictures of my cat look like art.

A couple weeks ago I was at Wallace Falls with some amazing winter weather...sunny and dry!

Ross Lake, up in your neck of the woods.

The color of the water in that area is just amazing. I did some camping near Diablo Lake a few years back, I'll have to try to dig up some photos.

And that's what the water really looks like there! For anyone who doesn't know, there's this harmless, reflective algae that turns the water a rich green when it's deep.

Really? I always assumed it was because it's balls to the wall cold. Does that algae only grow in cold temps? I ask because the color of our fresh water lakes here is only slightly uglier than rust on stainless steel. We also can't swim in them because there's an amoeba that will get up to your brain through your nose and make your brain turn to goo or something. Quite treacherous are our warm water fresh lakes. But I still find them preferable to the mere thought of sticking my big toe into one that color for fear of frostbite :) Seriously though, I've only ever seen water that color in two places...the tropics and cold as balls mountain lakes.

All I know is that someone told me that it was algae. You can see just a glint of it in shallow water, almost luminescent. Comparing pictures, it DOES look a lot like the water in Aruba.

These lakes are cold, yeah. They are glacier fed...the melt from the glaciers brings mineral sediments to the lakes that the algae thrive on.

I believe it's just the light reflecting off the glacial sediment suspended in the water (aka "rock flour"):

You know, if you're going to spam a Cialis ad to the forum, at least make its use sound somewhat appealing.

I don't know, I think I'd quite like a backtrack from concavity. I think I should use online translators for all my future song lyrics from now on.

Plitvice National Park has about 10 lakes cascading into each other, all a different colour. It's an awesome place!

Finally got around to uploading the pix Roe and I took on our April camping trip to Pearrygin Lake. Here are a few of mine, and hopefully clicking on the photos will take you to the flickr page where the rest of them are if I did this right.
