The Book Thief - by Markus Zusak - brilliant - one of those books that has you smiling on one page, then

choked on the next.

I've been reading lots of teenage fiction recently in preperation for September and I've just read a good 'un called What I Was by Meg Rosoff.
I'm looking forward to the second installment of Patrick Ness's Chaos Walking triolgy, which is next on my list. If anyone ever has to buy a present for a teenager (as in 12-15ish) I'd go for one of these, they're great.

Read it a little while ago. Fantastic.

This would be a great compliment to your current reading, but perhaps you've already read it:

Following a recommendation on this very forum back in Oct 2007 I have just got round to starting:

Scapa Flow - The Story of Britain's Greatest Naval Anchorage in Two World Wars

http://www.amazon.co.uk/Scapa-Flow-Britains-Greatest-Anchorage/dp/1405007850/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1256985260&sr=8-2

It's an absorbing set of accounts by forces personnel of all ranks concerning their tours of duty in the Orkneys.

It explains early on that as it's a Nordic word, Scapa rhymes with capper not scarper.

Cheers
