21 of those, but I shall be complaining about the non-inclusion of St Leonard's Sports and Social Club in Stafford.

Agree with CQ about Cargo/ Forum though and suitably embarassed to find out that Nynex and MEN are one in the same - particularly as I have been in "both" venues. Spose it's a bit like Crystal Palace and Charlton Athletic circa 1988. I can be sure about some that I haven't done and sure about plenty that I have but I'm unsure about a few of them. I've been asked to leave four of them is all can say with much certainty.

i've only been ejected from 2 of them, the first time for being sick in the ladies' toilets at Brixton Academy in the middle of a Dylan gig, and the second (coinciding with one of the captain's withdrawals) when i was invited to withdraw my custom from LA2 for having the wrong coloured skin by a friendly bouncer...

36 or so. One glaring omission being sorted early next year.

I suspect more than a few of these have gone the way of all things, and pretty much all the Liverpool venues have changed their name at least twice.

I do take issue with a couple of venues on the list...
The Cockpit Main Room was shit, the middle room wasn't much better. Upstairs could be good though.
Plymouth Pavilions? Was the Captain on hard drugs?

68 / 69 now. Looking back, he may have meant GMex (AKA Manchester Central, exhibition centre occasionally used as actually very good for the size 8000-ish capacity live venue from the late 80s until about 2010) instead of Nynex which was the original sponsor / name of Manchester (no longer MEN) Arena in the 90s. I still have no idea what Edinburgh RHEC is. Been to a massive number of new and new-to-me venues in the intervening 11 years, but that list was already slightly Old Rock Haunts Canon even in 2007. Finally got to Barrowland in 2012 and it still doesn't have an S on the end.

I sorely miss The Freebutt in Brighton, as do many.

I did a Google - it is (or more likely was) the Ingliston Royal Highland Exhibition Centre. Bowie played there in 1990, and it must have been a good one to make the Captain's list.

I vote to strike Plymouth Pavilions from the list (really, it's nowt special, even if I did see a fantastic performance from Bjork there) and have it replaced by Hebden Bridge Trades Club.

Somehow I've been to almost 40 of those (I was thinking around 10 would be likely), though a fair chunk are in Manchester and London.

Stoke Sugarmill was previously The Stage if that helps anyone.

As someone who considers themselves an occasional gig goer I'm amazed to have reached 23 on that list with non-gig attendance at 2 more and a couple of possible for having gone to while they were called something else.

Visited 21 of those as a punter and played at 3 of them (Brighton's Freebutt and Concorde plus London Mean Fiddler).

I wonder who has played at most? I'd imagine someone from the 90s who had a steady-ish rise to arena level like the Manics or Feeder perhaps.

I've played at two of them - The Sugarmill and Manchester Roadhouse. Dublin Castle would be another iconic one but it's not on the list.
