My favourite part of any BSP gig is the encore. The last 20 to 30 minutes is what it is all about. It all picks up gear, turns a pit more punkish, and it just the most fantastic experience.

The fact that BSP are a support act worries me a lot. Can they pull off a typical last 30 minutes of mayhem when they are the support act and won't have an encore? Not only that, but most of the people at the front will be Manics fans who might not be into BSP enough to let rip at the end of a support act.

I'll certainly go to see them at least once as I quite like the Manics too, but my expectations are low :-(

Then you should be pleasantly surprised, and yet not at all surprised. You should know BSP well enough to know they don't do things by halves and that encore or no they will still rock out an epic finale to their set (whether in sync with or in spite of the front row).

I'm pretty sure they never did encores prior to the DYLRM tour(s) anyway. As for the traditional BSP finale I'm in the camp that'd rather hear another two or three proper songs than the wig-out.

What!!! take that back! the "wig-out" is the best bit by miles. It reminds me of their earlier style.

I do tend to get a bit bored during Rock in Summat these days.

Hello! I'm new on this forum. Will look and see if there is a 'Welcome' thread or whatever. Anyways, I am a Manic Street Preachers fan and was absolutely thrilled to hear that British Sea Power would be supporting them as they are also one of my favourite bands. Suprised by people calling MSP dinosaurs. They've got more energy than alot of younger bands! I love all eras of MSP and will be down the front definitely! Have heard BSP are pretty ace live too and am really looking forward to seeing them. (Please play A Trip Out lads! Thanks! :D)

Thankyou Nora! I've always felt BSP have a bit of a spirit of Echo & The Bunnymen about them. Mysterious and kooky in a good way (of course!). BSP are definitely in my Top 10 of fave bands ever and have been wanting to see them for ages so this announcement was just brilliant as far as I was concerned. Just got to wait for Seetickets to send me my ticket for Birmingham now!

A lot of people seem to think that about bsp and eatb, dont necessarily see it myself, although at one point on the album Do You Like Rock Music I did think they sounded a bit like them. Two great bands all the same though. Enjoy Birmingham, I hope they blow your socks off.

If I were to do a comparative tasting, I reckon a pile of EaTB Cd's & a similarly sized pile of BSP albums would weigh about the same. They'd certainly be next to each other, or very close, in my collection, were I to order it into genres.

And welcome in Gutless, although I'm sure if you hang around with one or two of us for any length of time you'd have to lose your first name, or face the wrath of the trade descriptions act (I'm talking physically - not spiritually)

Aaaaaw! Thanks for the nice friendly welcome peeps! :D Thankfully I'm not literally 'gutless'. That would be a bit of a problem, eh? lol! Yes, there is definitely an air of Bunnymen about them for me without sounding overly much like them or anything. Love Yan's vocals!
