One way of coping in these weird times is Tim Burgess' Twitter Listening Parties. What the flump, you say? Well, here's the explanation from the website.
Stream or play the album in question. Follow Tim Burgess and the relevant twitterer(s). Watch the tweets in real time. Ask questions & share memories using #TimsTwitterListeningParty. Nowt complicated. That’s it ; )
The website is https://timstwitterlisteningparty.com/, and there's a timetable of what records are in it. BSP are doing all their LPs on Friday nights. Needles on the record, press play or whatever at 2000 BST sharp. Folk start posting from about 1930 BST. They only announce which LP it is a few days before. Here's the list so far (which I'll update as we get the info)
10 April - Open Season
17 April - Do You Like Rock Music?
24 April - Man Of Aran (This will start at 1930 BST because it's 70 odd minutes long, so check in from 1900).
1 May - Machineries Of Joy
8 May - Zeus (1900, guerrilla listening party, unofficial. Check in about 1850), Valhalla Dancehall (1955, official)
15 May - Sea Of Brass (just the 8 track LP, listen to the extras as homework)
22 May - Let The Dancers Inherit The Party
SATURDAY 30 May - From The Sea To The Land Beyond (1845 start)
SATURDAY 6 June - Decline Of British Sea Power (1900 start)
Fun stuff, good ways to connect with folks you won't have seen for a while and strangely emotional in places (when they play Skua, basically).
