Open Season 15th Birthday & Listening Party

Postby pomfob » Mon Apr 06, 2020 8:20 am

Open Season was released into the world 15 years ago. To celebrate, there's going to be a Twitter listening party on Good Friday. Here's the official word from Twitter:

Friday 10th April:
8pm (UK time)
British Sea Power proudly present...
A twitter listening party celebrating fifteen years of Open Season.

It's very simple. You play the album at home from 8pm. We have some chit-chat using #timstwitterlisteningparty
We also recommend a BSP ~ Open Season dress code!

That was weirdly fun and quite emotional in places. it must have been successful too, as they're doing the rest of the LPs on consecutive Fridays starting with Do You Like Rock Music? at 2000 BST this Friday, 17 April. Get yourself in the mood by listening to the Krankenhaus? EP (as opposed to the Krankenhaus series of EPs).

Bet they wished they'd started with Decline now but great that they're doing the whole lot. An hour of escapism on a Friday for a while at least. And an idea for a tour was born.
....it's one of them innit

Yeah, it was great fun really. I felt on a bit of a high afterwards. Almost like you would after a good gig. It's great they're doing the others. Something to look forward to every Friday night.

Friday 24 April - this coming Friday - will be Man Of Aran. Early start of 19:30, because it's quite long. If you want to watch along but don't have the DVD, there's a version on You Tube with the original soundtrack. BSP are going to try and upload their version, but there's rights and technology to deal with, so...

First two have been fantastic. Really enjoying hearing the tales and seeing the old photos; many from before my time.

Thanks everyone.

As the phenomena of listening parties has grown legs, I've set up a separate thread for them.
