Let The Dancers Inherit The Party

Postby Kattegat » Wed Jan 04, 2017 12:16 am

According to iTunes:

1. Intro (0:29)
2. Bad Bohemians (3:16)
3. International Space Station (4:28)
4. What You're Doing (3:58)
5. The Voice of Ivy Lee (4:10)
6. Keep on Trying (4:15)
7. Electrical Kittens (5:07)
8. Saint Jerome (4:35)
9. Praise for Whatever (5:52)
10. Want to Be Free (3:47)
11. Don't Let the Sun Get in the Way (3:39)
12. Alone Piano (5:11)

So apparently the new single opens the record (save the intro). Any indication which ones the live tracks might be?
Seems like there won't be any long tracks like on Valhalla Dancehall, though most of the songs are 4 minutes or more. Interesting times!

'Ivy Lee' and 'Don't Let the Sun Get in the Way' (AKA 'Sunny Wurzel's Holiday') were both played live and I seem to remember 'Electrical Kittens' appearing on a setlist though I'm not sure which song that is. Perhaps 'Man', 'Spark' and 'Telstar II' are in there with new titles - I was expecting the latter to be the first single and reckon it's a stronger tune than 'Bad Bohemian' so I hope it's made the cut.

Good to see the reinstatement of the album intro! Wonder if it's Gregorian chant, organ or something different? A horn fanfare, perhaps?

Based on lyrics I think Spark https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uaIzV2onoPA is Keep on Trying. Unsure about Rocky VI which was also played on tour https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Rewswv5wfY - hope this is in there

Good point re. 'Spark'. I'd completely forgotten the Rocky one but I bet it's on there.

The titles are all strangers - I wonder which will go on to become future BSP classics...

Will the album be available to "non-uber fans" in March? I know it'll be really nice and all, but £45 was a bit much for me to justify for 3 CDs, and I don't want another box that takes up loads of space.

According to this week's Newsboost (dated 3rd January)

The new BSP album will be available as a digital pre-order later today on iTunes, with a download of Bad Bohemian supplied immediately as part of this deal....... Pre-orders for standard physical CDs and vinyl – plus standard downloads – will be available from tomorrow across all usual outlets.

Tomorrow as stated yesterday obviously being today, but this being BSP I'd give them a day or two :)
And I asked, "Are you dreaming about a crow?"
And there she was....

have people in the UK been able to find the new song on Spotify? it's absent from the band's Spotify page in the US.

Yes it is available on Spotify here in the UK. I believe Australia too, so I have been told.
Totally at ease with it all, yeah.

These are all the live ones they've played so far (I think):

Spark
Ivy Lee
What you're Doing
Rocky VII (GIB)
Sun
Praise for Whatever
Man
Telstar 2
Electrical Kittens

So out of those, there is no Spark (ha), Rocky, Man or Telstar.

Judging by the comment above, Spark is now Keep on Trying. And what's the betting Telstar 2 is now called International Space Station?!

I hope Man made it, as that song, What You're Doing, Don't Let the Sun and Telstar were the picks of the live ones for me. Don't Let the Sun Get In the Way, in particular, sounded gorgeous live.
Kevo or Matthew Wood? Malevolence or good?

The Transatlantic telegraph cable must have been snipped by some angry crustacean. Thanks for the help anyway.

Ah, yes, that does make sense - perhaps they've turned a satellite into a space station and stuck with the established pattern of kicking off each album with a brace of bangers.

I've recorded Bad Bohemian off Steve Lamacq's podcast using Audacity. MP3 at 128kbps. It'll do until my box set arrives.
Very easy to do on a PC, just follow the help article on recording through the PC.
