BSP Patches

Postby rich86 » Wed Jul 01, 2015 7:15 pm

Hi everyone.

I posed this question to the shopkeeper, and he suggested I ask via the forum, so finally, 12 years too late, I've signed up.

I recently re-discovered I have 4 of the sew on BSP patches that I've picked up from various gigs over the years (the Zeus one, the Spring Has Sprung one, the Allons-y! one, and the Na Zdraví Budweiser one).

And it got me thinking, does anyone have a comprehensive list of all of them, or maybe know of any more that were issued? I've noticed a few pop up on eBay over the years, but can't remember which ones and was interested if anyone on here could help?

Cheers,
Rich.

I do not know about comprehensive but here goes, and the dates are very hazy.

1st Patch: "British Sea Power" A stags head against a background of a hill and lake. Circa 2003? Very Boy Scoutish. LIke hens teeth, have seen them sell for over £50 on auction sites.

Swallow? A yellow outline of a swallow (may be another bird) against a green background. 2003/4?

Avance! Rabbit silhouette against a mountain. 2004?

Noa Zdravi Budvar 2004??

Club Sea Power: Yellow and Blue with "BSP" in the middle. 2005

Allons-Y! 2008 ish?

British Sea Power Polar Expedition: Very cool, polar bear head. 2008.

Garde Bien: Same as the cover for "Do It For Your Mum". Year????

Zeus Patch? Had No idea it existed.

Spring Has Sprung: 2013

Here are some on my jacket.

That's great, thanks pauloso.

The Zeus patch I picked up from a (very sweaty) Derby gig in 2013.

Thats the one I want.

Come on Shopkeeper, stop with the rubbish mugs and t-shirts of less than subtle design and get a new batch of these patches made up.

While you're at it, can we have a BSP flask too? None of your cafe press shite please, a decently made one with 'The best tea I ever had' written on it and a picture of Fred Elliott looking surprised or confused.

You'll need a BSP mug tree for all those.

With a picture of Fred Elliott on it.

Glad I could be of some help Rich.

And Wendy I have not seen one of those patches for sale for a long time. Woody has one on a white shirt he sometimes wears. Maybe sidle up to him during a gig and see if you can remove it with a sewing kit?

I noticed an Avance! patch went for over twenty quid earlier tonight on a popular auction site. Crackers!

Always loved the idea of the patches, but for some reason have never got around to buying any, which means I am totally useless at answering the question at hand…

If you're talking about the one on the jacket, then that's a peregrine falcon by my reckoning and YOU, sonny jim, are out of the Sea Power Young Ornithologists if you make a gross error like that again. Swallows have forked tails, for a start!

The cut-and-paste-CD-and-patch factory looks amazing. Can I just get 3 or 4 slipped in my package? I'd totally buy a grey hoodie akin to my old 'cubs' shirt and stitch 'em on...

Also, can we get a custom patch with "Sea Power Young Ornithologists" on it?
