Brownsea Island 12 10 2014

Postby The Peddler » Sat Jul 19, 2014 11:26 am

On twitter they say that this date *is not* part of the sea of brass project. One assumes this is because it is only a brass quintet that they are playing with. Sounds fun regardless, my only concern is what will the weather be like in October (pointless question given that forecasters can barely predict what it will be like this coming monday).

As my first moderator action in 3 years or more, I've moved these into this here new topic.

PS Sorry, I know there's still another Bownsea related post in the Sea of Brass, but I haven't got the time or strength of will to go through the whole seemingly random procedure again for that one, which isn't really doing any harm where it is.

Yep, sorry about that. In my defence I assumed it was part of Sea of Brass when I posted it. Also, at least now I know I wasn't dreaming when posts started mysteriously moving around earlier.

Damn you to hell moderator man! (seems quite sensible actually, we would not want anybody getting the wrong idea).

Gutted - I can't make this because I'm at a wedding in Murika.

I expect to feel appropriately envious at the time.

Just to double-confirm – yes, this is NOT a Sea Of Brass show.

Rather, BSP plus 'chamber' brass on an island with history.

Should be good – more news soon.

Looked at Brownsea Island on a map last night. It's probably worth noting the island is in Poole Harbour. That's off Poole, not Bournemouth. However, they appear to run into each other in what looks like a Manchester ~ Salford sort of way.

The ferry goes from Sandbanks though which is that sticky outy bit at the bottom of Bournemouth.
And I asked, "Are you dreaming about a crow?"
And there she was....

Hmm, just thinking about this.
Not too bothered with missing the ferry ticket, seen enough ferry gigs.
Parents live down the road about 40mins.
Will they dress up as scouts?
That would swing it, Secretary?

Sticky outy bit being obviously the scholarly technical term for it.

Anyway, The Orchid Hotel in Bournemouth appears to be available at a stupidly cheap rate for this one night, via booking.com (at the time of writing). Just booked a double for £23 including breakfast. I'm not sure this is actually correct, but I booked it anyway and now I've got emails and stuff so....

I went to Brownsea Island as a child scout and luckily wasn't buggered, I wish you all well.
