I'm new to this forum as of now. Valhalla is the album that got me into BSP had heard Decline before but Valhalla topped it for me and that's when I got into them. :)

Hi and welcome.

Valhalla would have been a cracking album for me if it had run something like this...

MongkII
Luna
Observe the Skies
Bear
Zues
Heavy Water
Once More Now
Cleaning out the Rooms

But what do I know?

I can see what you're saying but no room for 'Stunde Null'? Ah, come on!

Georgie Ray (single version)
Stunde Null
Mongk II
Living Is So Easy (that other mix)
Cleaning Out the Rooms
Bear
Observe The Skies
Let the Tears Roll
kW-h
Heavy Water
Retreat

Now we're talking!

You've both missed out Thin Black Sail!
Oh, and Luna needs to be the long version.
I like the sprawling mixed bag nature of VD/Zeus, and I'm glad that BSP made an album like that - I love MOJ, but it feels like it's over far too quickly.
Living Is So Easy, Luna, Cleaning Out The Rooms - it's all great stuff really. It's good to see your favourite band chuck away the poetry and history lessons and do something a bit different.
I didn't vote for it, though.

I forgot 'Baby', an' all, which I adore. Back to the drawing board...
There are parts of Luna I like (especially on the long version) but I find it a bit plodding overall and it's one of my least favourite BSP lyrics.

It makes me think of Elastica, that line.

Yes, they were shit, weren't they?

I refuse to think of Elastica when I listen to Luna.

All this have made me think that the VD/Zeus era was the richest since Decline. It just didn't all make it onto the album in quite the way I'd have liked.

I agree with Blir on this especially when you consider the demo/alternate version disc they released. I've probably listened to that more than any of their other releases except for Decline. The stripped down versions on it seem to covey for urgency and the original attitudes and thoughts that helped form the songs, which I think is what the proper VD release seemed to really lack. Combine that and the Zeus EP and you have a much better album than DYLRM.

I've thought and said the same for a long time:

It would be fascinating and maybe make me want to shower in the mornings if we could repeat the poll with Dancers and other soundtracks?

One last thought(for now) on VD. I'm glad Mongk II is still played live, but Cleaning Out The Rooms Zeus are two songs from that period that should be nailed on to every set list. Probably my two favourite songs post Open Season.
