Best of BSP on Youtube

Postby Revol_T » Tue Aug 06, 2013 7:16 pm

Here are some of my favourites. Anyone else got any links to high quality videos from down the years? There was a fantastic Spirit of St. Louis posted on here a while back, but I can't find it anywhere.

Was it this one? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y-ADFOX6aUo

'Spirit Of St Louis'/'Scottish Wildlife Experience at Neumos, Seattle, March 4th 2008. My favourite ever BSP clip, that.

This is my favourite 'Waving Flags'/'Great Skua': http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qbfUb3BPkmY
At Regents Park, with the London Bulgarian Choir

Only saw the Leicester 'Zeus' posted above for the first time last week - absolute magic.

This is the gig I fell in love with them at. The sound is garbled and cuts out half way through, but I think it captures the frenzied atmosphere well

Great thread! I'll have to refer potential BSP fans to this list in future as I always struggle to find something that shows them in their best light.

I have converted people with this official BSP live performance of Bear before: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tdrZaqc6KgA

I'll have to try and upload a better version of this some time: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AogR56UB51E

Edit - I just realised I have used 'have' in every sentence.

Yes, great thread. Often had vague thoughts about starting one myself, but never got round to it.

Anyhow, this is one of my favourite clips from one of my favourite BSP appearances (Regents Park) which I think was the debut for Carrion/All In It. It might be that you had to be there for this to really hit the mark:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQFXimrZAhg

.. roughly the same bit captured along with the preceding Carrion from a slightly different perspective:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PI5E3aQ2BSE

And this was how the event kicked off (for BSP):

Finally, for non-musical footage, this mini-doc on the Scottish Islands tour is quite entertaining:

Do like the In Scottish Waters film. Don't think had previously seen that, certainly not in its entirety. Captures spirit of BSP rather well?

Yes.

I wondered if similarity of the style of commentary to this was entirely coincidental: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_7pkOZ5n6PQ

Lovely stuff, thanks for that.

Have managed to track down my favourite ever live video of Sea Power, the one I mentioned in the original post: stunning version of St Louis here

Here's a new and very professional one from Lewes Stopover 2013. Nice footage of the crowd all saying "British Sea Power" in unison at the beginning. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gEdnorOjTlI

Big crowd! Should have opened with something like Who's In Control.

I stumbled across this video today that I've never seen. It seems to be the full band playing a some what empty pub doing Canvey Island and an interesting version of Luna.

Nice find. That was the semi-acoustic gig they played at the Hand-in-Hand pub in Brighton, late 2009. It's actually an early version of Bear, not Luna.
Kevo or Matthew Wood? Malevolence or good?
